ANALYSIS – Gathered in congress in Tours, it should renew for three years its president, François Hommeril, alone in the running.

For the unions, this Wednesday March 22 marks the home stretch before the ninth day of mobilization against the pension reform. With one exception. For the CFE-CGC, this date marks the beginning of its 38e national congress meeting in Tours.

Spread over March 22 and 23, this high mass, which takes place once every three years, will be an opportunity to renew the governing bodies. Unlike the CGT, which holds its 53e congress the following week in Clermont-Ferrand, no bang is expected.

Number one, François Hommeril, is the sole candidate for his own succession. He should easily re-enlist for a third and final term of three years. On the other hand, behind him, a small game of musical chairs is expected. The current Secretary General, Gérard Mardiné, is retiring at 64. He should unsurprisingly be replaced by number three Jean-Philippe Tanghe, whose current position as treasurer will go to Farida Karad.
