Around three dozen people were injured, some seriously, in turbulence on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Phoenix to Honolulu.
Rescue workers treated 36 patients after landing, eleven of whom were taken to nearby hospitals in serious condition.
This was reported by news agencies and US media on Monday night.
Flight HA35 from the US city of Phoenix to Honolulu, capital of the US island of Hawaii, encountered severe turbulence and then landed safely at 10:50 a.m., the airline said on Twitter.
Several guests and crew members were then given medical treatment at the airport after suffering minor injuries. Some were transported to local hospitals for further treatment.
The Airbus A330 with 278 passengers and ten crew members on board encountered severe turbulence on approach, a spokesman for the airline told the Star Adviser newspaper.
Another nine patients were in a stable condition despite injuries ranging from severe head injuries, lacerations, bruises to unconsciousness, according to various media.
