Samy’s death was a real shock for Eglantine Eméyé but also for his other son, Marcoborn in 2003. Indeed, “the normality“for the young man was to look after his brother.”We don’t think enough about the siblings of our autistic or disabled children. They are obviously terribly impacted, their daily life cannot be the same as a normal child.” she explained.

Since Samy’s death, Eglantine Eméyé’s family life has been turned upside down. In fact, the teenager had constantly need attention and Marco has since discovered a very different life. “He discovered what a quiet home it was, to have breakfast with his mother who he could talk to. At the table, we never had time to talk to my son, we were very, very busy trying to get Samy to swallow a bite, who was moving in all directions, who was screaming, who was hitting himself…” the 49-year-old recalled.
Today, Marco’s daily life is no longer the same and the young man was overwhelmed by the sudden departure of his brotherwhich had been placed in a specialized center. Eglantine Eméyé revealed: “All of a sudden, his life changed, but he felt a lot of guilt himself, a lot. When I went every two weeks to see Samy, Marco said to me ‘Are you leaving again?’ I say: ‘My love, Samy also has the right to his mum’, ‘Oh yes it’s true, he’s so unlucky, I have you all the rest of the week and it’s not just’“.
