Netflix unveils the French series “Fiasco” to its subscribers. In this fiction co-created by Pierre Niney, the latter also plays the main role. Guest in “Quotidien”, he revealed why he gained weight to play Raphaël, his character.

Pierre Niney in the shoes of a young outdated director
Pierre Niney plays the main role of this comic fiction. He therefore plays the apprentice filmmaker Raphaël alongside Géraldine Nakache, Pascal Demolon, Leslie Medina, Louise Coldefy, François Civil and Igor Gotesman.
The latter is also responsible for the production. He and Pierre Niney also participated in writing the screenplay, with Nicolas Slomka and Tania Gotesman.
In Fiasco, the one we will soon find at the Cannes Film Festival with The Count of Monte Cristo (presented out of competition) appears with a relatively unflattering look. Pierre Niney confided on April 23 in the show Daily having even voluntarily gained weight in order to best embody Raphaël.
“I felt disgusting”
Igor Gotesman (also guest that day on TMC, with Géraldine Nakache) remembered before Pierre Niney spoke on this subject: “I saw him eating more and more as he wrote and I wondered, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And in fact, he had a plan in mind…“
The main interested party then explained: “I ate quite a bit because I told myself that my character was quite uncomfortable in his skin, never very comfortable… So I thought that if I saw myself in a mirror with four or five kilos overweight, a little goiter , the glasses with the bowl cut, the duffle coat, in bad Harry Potter mode from Wish [une application de shopping à bas prix, ndlr]it was very good [pour le rôle, ndlr].”
“So, I was drinking quite a bit and it was quite pleasant! I thought I was disgusting but it helped me a lot to play Raphaël“, affirmed Pierre Niney with humor and who we find in great form in Fiasco, just like all of his partners on screen.
