He hides a camera in his kitchen to raise suspicion about his wife, what he discovers terrifies him

An intuition that may have saved his life. In April 2022, an American started to distrust his wife, a 45-year-old dermatologist, after she started getting sick and noticed a strange taste in her tea. The husband indeed suspected his wife of pouring bleach in his hot drink. He complained in particular of stomach ulcers, gastritis and esophagitis, according to his lawyer.

In an attempt to catch her in the act, the man therefore decided to install a hidden camera in the kitchen of their home located in the state of South Carolina. And thanks to the recorded images, he discovered that his wife had paid a strange substance at least three times. He then took samples from his tea and sent them to the authorities. After analysis, the police revealed that it was a drain cleaner. The suspect was arrested and charged with three counts of poisoning and one count of domestic assault.

The respondent denies the charges

“Our homes should be where we feel most secure. Yet a licensed medical professional took advantage of her husband’s daily rituals to torment him by routinely dotting his tea with a Drano-like substance (liquid drain cleaner, editor’s note), in order to make him suffer”, responded Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. For his part, counsel for the mis en cause declared that his client would plead not guilty to the charges brought against her. “Drano is not a secret poisoning agent. It has a strong smell and taste and is very caustic”explained the lawyer, adding that the wife “eagerly awaits his day in court when the truth will finally come out”. Moreover, he also refutes the allegations that the wife was trying to take advantage of her husband, because she had her own practice and earned more than her husband. She faces a maximum sentence of eight years in prison if convicted on all counts.
