Roman and Heiko Lochmann are back as HE / RO. In an interview, the two brothers reveal why a new beginning was inevitable.

Anyone who has been following Roman and Heiko Lochmann (21, "Kapitel X") for a long time on social media has already suspected it: The twin brothers have worked on their comeback. In 2019 they announced the end of the duo Die Lochis, but they have not been idle since then. On Friday (January 15th) they will release their first song "Siehst du mich" under their new name HE / RO, which is derived from the first letters of their first names. In an interview with spot on news, they tell what the new duo is all about, what plans they have with HE / RO and whether the two musicians will also open the chapter on YouTube again. In addition, the two reveal how things are with them when it comes to love.

How did you come up with the name HE / RO? Do you feel like a "hero"?

HE / RO: We had so many ideas. The name HE / RO was born during our time in the studio. That a combination of our first names results in "hero" was just as coincidental as the name itself. But we don't feel like heroes.

In 2019, they announced the ending as The Lochis. How did the comeback come about under a new name?

HE / RO: We said at the time that we would close a chapter, but not the whole book. It has always been clear to us that we want to keep making music because that's what we love. HE / RO is born of the natural need to outgrow oneself. We can now start again freely, unfiltered and.

What is the difference between HE / RO and Lochis?

HE / RO: The style and clearly the sound. It is clearly more unadapted, deeper and also more mature. We have evolved. Taken a lot of time. As musicians and brothers, we even got to know each other differently. You can hear that in music too. The comparison is like comparing your childhood self with that of your 21 year old self. We are now young adults who needed and are now experiencing change.

How do you look back on your time as Die Lochis?

HE / RO: We are grateful and proud too. What we were allowed to experience there and what we did was something very special. We felt early on that time was limited. The end of the very successful teen stars or Die Lochis was predictable.

On Instagram you announced HE / RO as the beginning of a new era. What do you mean by that exactly?

HE / RO: When we take something in hand, we are a thousand percent behind it because we are convinced of it ourselves. Hopefully, we hit a nerve with our pop-rock sound, both lyrically and musically. We have big plans for HE / RO. Most of all we are looking forward to the next live tour.

The last two years were the "most important of your life", says a promo video. Why? What did you experience?

HE / RO: It took some time to realize what happened after the last concert in Dortmund in front of 8,000 people. We immediately started making music again. First only for us. But first we had to find and sort ourselves, which is exactly what the creative phase was perfect for. Change takes time and we have taken it.

Will the HE / RO focus only on music or will you turn to the YouTube chapter again?

HE / RO: Focus very clearly on the music. YouTube and other social media platforms have of course become indispensable and give us the opportunity to take the world with us on our new journey. Just different from what we have known before.

Her first single is called "Do you see me". What is the song about?

HE / RO: Heiko has been happily in a relationship for almost five years, while Roman doesn't have a girlfriend, but longing. We want to address these two worlds and stories in "Do you see me". That moment, when you look into this one person's eyes, can do so much to you and change so much. In summary, the song is a status update of our love situation as well as the appreciation of true love.

Heiko, you made your relationship with your friend Steffi public last year and you still seem to be very happy together. What's your relationship secret?

Heiko Lochmann: We've been together for a few years, and that welds together, but even that wasn't always easy in the past with all the hide-and-seek, traveling and performing. We try to see each other as often as possible and of course trust plays a big role.
