A marital dispute with a tragic outcome. This Friday, May 5, 2023, a double feminicide occurred in a town near Alès in the Gard, where residents are in shock after learning about recent events. Against the backdrop of a marital dispute, 39-year-old man stabbed his sister-in-law and wife several times before surrendering to police where he was placed in examination and imprisoned this Sunday, May 7, 2023.

According to the elements shared by the Gard prosecutor’s office and reported by our colleagues from C news, this double-murder occurred after a marital dispute. Obviously, the man would have taken the decision to kill his wife to prevent her from leaving him. The latter, aged 26 and mother of a 10-month-old baby, had made the decision to separate from her husband, with whom she married in December 2020. The young woman had taken care to file a handrail to indicate that she was leaving the marital home located in Cavaillon.

Killed during an argument

According to information shared by the Gard prosecutor’s office, the young mother feared that her husband would take the child to Morocco, the country where he is from. This Friday, events took a tragic turn when the man went to the new home occupied by his wife for a few days near Alès. On the spot, the indicted first violently argued with his sister-in-law, a 39-year-old woman, whom he accuses of having heavily influenced his wife in her decision to separate.

During the argument, the man struck the victim several lethal stab wounds before attacking his wife, who he stabbed in the throat, as reported by the prosecution. A beautician present at the home, was able to witness the scene of extreme violence before being summoned by the individual to accompany him to the police station in Alès. On the road, the man gave himself up to the young woman, explaining that he had a major dispute with his in-laws.
