A heat that had visibly stirred the thousands of people who came to cool off at the beach.

Sussex Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene following a an incident medical in water. Police provided support to the coastguard and ambulance service during an incident on Worthing beach at around 5.40pm on Sunday May 28, said a police spokesman. “A 70-year-old man was treated by ambulance services after being victim of a medical incident in the water. He was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed“, according to the statement.

4 other people died over the weekend

The death of this 70-year-old man represents the fifth death in Britain over the weekend of Sunday 28 May. In effect, an athlete also lost consciousness in the water during Swansea Triathlon. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the swimmer died. Nearly 1,500 people would have participated in this event, on Sunday May 28 morning. Two other men died after being pulled from the sea at Torbay, Devon. As for the fourth death, it isa pupil who had struggled while swimming with his friends in the River Eden, Cumbria.
