We know that Google has a hard time keeping its future products secret. We remember the Google Pixel 3 XL taken in hand in Hong Kong even before its formalization. This was also the case with the Pixel 4a or the Pixel 4 XL. This time, it’s the Pixel 7 Pro’s turn to suffer the same fate, but with somewhat special events.

A “used Pixel 6” turns out to be a Pixel 7 Pro

The story is told by AMC20_ on Reddit. He indicates that he acquired a smartphone listed as a Google Pixel 6 Pro on the Facebook marketplace. Obviously, the Internet user did not notice that his Google Pixel 6 Pro did not really correspond to the smartphone marketed by Google. On the photo published, we can indeed realize that it is a Google Pixel 7 Pro without the Google logo since it is a prototype. We can assume that we are talking about the same delivery as the Google Pixel 7 that appeared on eBay.

He was able to use the smartphone for three weeks without any problem and visibly, without realizing that he was the owner of a smartphone not yet fully disclosed by its manufacturer. It must be said that the design differences between the Pixel 6 Pro and the Pixel 7 Pro are minimal. The Internet user also confides that he was able to use a screen protector and a shell from Google Pixel 6 Pro without too many problems.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the week, the press discovered the Google Pixel 7 on eBay and Google immediately proceeded to a remote deletion of the data on these prototypes to make them inoperative. AMC20_ therefore noticed that the screen of his smartphone flickered before his three weeks of data were deleted in front of him, without any particular warnings. The smartphone is now stuck on the phase of fastbootwhere we can read the code name of the Pixel 7 Pro: Cheetah.
