Bayern star Joshua Kimmich is vaccinated

It’s the excitement of autumn: National player Joshua Kimmich is not vaccinated. In a TV interview, he explains his concerns, triggering a debate that escalates to the federal government. Now he is said to have received the first vaccination against the corona virus. A confirmation is still pending.

Joshua Kimmich is vaccinated against the corona virus, reports the “Bild” newspaper. The FC Bayern Munich star is said to have shown proof of 2G at a team evening in early March and thus dispelled doubts about his vaccination status within the team. After his corona infection in November, he would therefore be basic immunized. Further details are not yet known. An official confirmation is still pending.

Kimmich is not yet with the national team, which is preparing for the upcoming international friendly matches against Israel (Saturday) and the Netherlands (Tuesday) in Frankfurt. He continues to train in Munich to attend the birth of his third child. This is imminent.

Kimmich made headlines last October as a vaccine skeptic. The national player explained his lack of vaccination with “a few concerns, especially with regard to the lack of long-term studies”. After two quarantines as an unvaccinated contact person and an infection directly following the second quarantine, the FC Bayern Munich midfielder was out for a total of six league games. Despite a mild course, Kimmich had problems with his lungs. They prevented a faster return. At the time of his infection, he had already planned a vaccination, it was said at the time.

Lauterbach offers Kimmich an explanation

Kimmich was at the center of many debates and became one of the symbolic figures in Germany’s struggle with the corona virus and the discussion about the insufficient number of vaccinations that dominated in late autumn. The case quickly reached the federal government. “I’m a national player, I’m a Bayern Munich player – and yet somewhere I’m just a person who also has fears and concerns,” Kimmich said in a ZDF interview in December.

Most recently, Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach offered to vaccinate the Bayern star himself and to inform him about “all the risks”. “They are significantly higher if you don’t vaccinate,” the SPD man explained in an interview with the magazine “Bunte” at the beginning of February.
