Head-on collision – accident with bus: motorcycle driver died

On Tuesday afternoon there was a collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Öblarn (Liezen district). The motorcycle driver was fatally injured.

At around 2:15 p.m., a 46-year-old from the Liezen district was driving a bus on the L734 state road heading west and wanted to turn left towards Niederöblarn at road kilometer 3.3. There was a head-on collision with an oncoming motorcycle driver. The 75-year-old driver from the Gmunden district (Upper Austria) hit the right front of the bus and ended up lying on the side in front of the bus. The two-wheeler driver was given first aid on site by the bus passengers and subsequently resuscitation measures were carried out by the rescue workers from the Christophorus 14 rescue helicopter carried out. However, these were unsuccessful and the emergency doctor present had to determine that the 75-year-old motorcycle driver had died from polytrauma. The driver of the accident was given first aid at the scene of the accident and looked after by the Styrian crisis intervention team. In addition to the forces listed, the Gröbming rescue service and the Niederöblarn volunteer fire department were also on duty involved.
