Hearthstone Grandmasters 2022: Results and Qualified Players, Season 1 Week 1


Designed by Blizzard as the highest esports instance of Hearthstone, the Grandmasters are however preparing to bow out at the end of 2022. The last two seasons of GM will therefore take place over the coming months, with as usually places for the Worlds to go get!

Format and general info

  • In line
  • Dates: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Four weeks of competition for Season 1, in February / March
  • The winner of each region’s playoffs (Week 4) will qualify for the 2022 World Championship.

Details of the course of each weekend

For the first three weeks of Grandmasters 2022, players are awarded points based on their number of wins each week, which determines the final standings heading into the playoffs in week 4.

  • The 16 players from each region play against each other off-stream on Thursday.
  • On Friday, the 4 decisive matches are played to determine the top 8 of each region.
  • The top 8 play in a single-elimination bracket on Saturday, and the top 4 qualify to play on Sunday.

The competition format changes every week:

  • Week 1: Conquest
  • Week 2: Trio (new format where played class trios are predefined)
  • Week 3: Last hero standing
  • Playoffs: Conquest

The first Masters Tour of 2022, the Onyxia Lair competition obviously invited some of the brand new dragons from the mini set. It was ultimately the Chinese player JrsLoveStorm who won against the British Judgment (3-1), after a top 8 full of pitfalls.
