Heat wave: this amazing food helps us sleep well when it's hot: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

As mercury continues to climb, falling asleep is becoming increasingly difficult. Wet linen, open window, fan … Everyone has their own technique for hoping to have a good night. Problem: the result is often disappointing.

What if the solution was on the plate? According to Sharon Natoli, a dietician interviewed by the Daily Mail Australia, eating eggs at dinner would help sleep during heat waves.

At the origin of this phenomenon? Egg whites, which promote the secretion of melatonin, a natural hormone that regulates circadian biological rhythms.

But not only : "Eggs are also a source of tryptophan, an amino acid, which means they help you sleep better and longer by telling your brain to take a break for the night ", adds Sharon Natoli.

But what is the link between food and heat? In The Conversation, Peter Poortvliet, a scientist at the University of Queensland (Australia), explains that our bodies generate heat when they digest rich foods. Not ideal when temperatures are already high!

Eating light foods such as eggs (especially semi-cooked, because it promotes digestion!) Would therefore be a guarantee of restful sleep!
