Heating without electricity and gas: A comparison of tea light stoves for romantic warmth

If you have the time and inclination, you can easily build a tea light oven yourself for much less money. We will tell you how it works and what materials you need for it.

Materials:

  • Terracotta flower pot Ø 19 cm (Amazon)

  • Terracotta flower pot Ø 15 cm (Amazon)

  • Terracotta flower pot saucer Ø 21 cm (Hornbach)

  • Threaded Rod (Amazon)

  • 5 hex nuts M10 (Amazon)

  • 6 building disks Ø 11 mm x Ø 34 mm (Obi)

  • Connection nut M10, approx. 40 mm long (Obi)

  • Acorn Nut (Amazon)

You will also need a drill and, if necessary, felt-tip pens to mark the holes.

That’s how it works:

Step 1: Using a size 10 drill bit and the cordless drill/driver, drill a hole in the center of the bottom of the flower pot and in the saucer. Do not drill with too much pressure, as the material of the pots will tear quickly.

Step 2: In the next step, pass the threaded rod through the hole in the coaster, then fix it with a nut and a washer on both sides.

Step 3: Then screw on the third nut at a distance of about 20 cm as a spacer and place a washer over it. This serves as a support for the first pot. Place the next washer on top and fix it with a nut.

Step 4: In the next step, the threaded connector is first inserted, then a washer again as a support for the second pot. Fix this again with a washer and a nut. Finally, thread an acorn nut onto the end of the threaded rod.

Step 5: Light the tea lights and enjoy the warmth.
