A coach caught fire on Monday on the Vienna outer ring motorway (A21) in the direction of Vösendorf between the Steinhäusl and Hochstrass junctions. The result was traffic delays and traffic jams.
Around 2 p.m., the bus suddenly caught fire. The Autobahn was closed in the direction of Vösendorf, said an ÖAMTC spokesman. Due to the heavy smoke development, there were also obstructions on the road to St. Pölten. Within a very short time, a long traffic jam formed. Several fire brigades were involved in the extinguishing work. The fire was out by 3 p.m. The bus was destroyed by the flames. 61 people were able to free themselves from the coach. No people were injured in the fire. The roadblock has since been lifted.
