Heavy precipitation – Heavy rain rolled over Dornbirn on Saturday

The series of heavy rain events continues. Early on Saturday evening for example in the Dornbirn area. In addition to hail, 30 liters of rain per square meter came down from the sky within a very short time. Four hours later, another front moved across the trade fair city.

While a thunderstorm front coming from Lake Constance passed Vorarlberg north on Saturday morning, there was a real “crash” in the early evening. At least in the Dornbirn area. 30.2 liters per square meter were measured there in just one hour. Most of them were available within just over 20 minutes between 6:35 p.m. and 6:55 p.m.

Not the only front on yesterday evening: From 10 p.m. there was another violent crash in Dornbirn and again there was heavy rainfall. Fortunately, there have been no reports of major damage so far. The situation is different in Bregenz, only a few kilometers away.

There the first front had already brought much less precipitation (9.9 liters / square meter) than in Dornbirn. And the second front brought significantly less rain – “Rigoletto” could even be played on the floating stage.

The next, partly heavy, thunderstorms are already announced for Sunday afternoon.
