When does Heels season 2 start?

Even though the second season of the wrestling series has actually already been wrapped and one could therefore think that nothing stands in the way of a start date, there is still no concrete information about an exact date for the start of season 2.

During an interview for Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Stephen Amell opened up about the ongoing delay to Season 2. Even though the series star unfortunately also seems to have no idea when the series will finally continue, he was able to clarify why the series has not been continued so far.

According to Amell, the start of “Heels” season 2 has been delayed due to the separation of the companies Lionsgate and Starz. Although this already took place in 2016, both parties are still in the process of “untangling” the partnership. This complex process probably means that the start of the new “Heels” episodes has so far fallen by the wayside.

However, Amell suspects that the Season 2 episodes could still be released “in the first or second quarter” of 2023 and that fans needn’t worry because the spectacular sequel means he’s not worried about the future at this point the wrestling series. With Lionsgate+ being discontinued, it remains to be seen where we’ll see “Heels” Season 2 in Germany.

Storyline of “Heels” Season 2

By the end of season one, Jack (Amell) and Ace Spade (Ludwig) were able to avert disaster and the DWL remains. However, this is not so much her fault, but rather Crystal’s (Keli Berglund). Not only did she win the big wrestling event, but she also won the hearts of the fans.

But while Jack and Ace’s father’s legacy – the DWL wrestling league – endures, Jack is pretty much alone as his wife Staci is fed up with him and his toxic relationship with his brother. Because this dynamic of the two brawlers would have often almost cost the DWL.

DWL gives many residents of Jack and Ace’s hometown hope for a brighter future. Above all, of course, this is about wrestling dreams. In Season 2, the pair’s ability to continue their father’s legacy will certainly be called into question and they must face the consequences of their actions.

Showrunner O’Malley has previously revealed that “Heels” season 2 will be about loss. Jack, for example, has a marital crisis and could lose DWL as well as his wife. Also, Charlie Gully, who can be seen as the villain of the series, will probably be up to mischief again.

Heels: Production of Season 2

Mike O’Malley (“Shameless”) returns for the second season as showrunner, executive producer and in his acting role as Charlie Gully. The series was created, written and executive produced by Michael Waldron (“Loki”, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”).

“The praise from critics and fans alike makes it clear that the stories and characters of Duffy Wrestling League resonated with our audiences by bringing a community to premium TV that is often overlooked,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz . “I look forward to seeing our talented cast and amazing crew behind them get back in the ring together for season two.”
