Heike Makatsch and Sebastian Blomberg: Start of shooting for the "Tatort: Blind Date" in Mainz

Heike Makatsch and Sebastian Blomberg are shooting their second "Tatort" in Mainz. In "Blind Date" a blind student becomes the main witness.

The wait is over, Commissioner Berlinger is returning – and so is my colleague Rascher. As the SWR announced on Tuesday, the shooting of the second joint "Tatort" of the actors Heike Makatsch (49, "I've never been to New York") and Sebastian Blomberg (48, "Die Neue Zeit") has started. The film with the working title "Blind Date" will be shot until the end of October under the direction of Ute Wieland (63, "Tiger Milk") in Mainz and the surrounding area.

So far, Commissioner Ellen Berlinger has investigated in two Sunday thrillers: The "Tatort: Five Minutes Heaven" from Freiburg was broadcast in 2016, the "Tatort: Time of the Frogs" from Mainz followed in 2018. The latter was followed by Commissioner Martin Rascher.

This is what "Tatort: Blind Date" is all about

The gas station attendant is shot dead in a gas station in Mainz – the second and this time fatal attack within two weeks. The only witness to the murder is the blind law student Rosa Münch (Henriette Nagel), who still lives with her parents and longs for a life beyond the overprotective control of her father.

Ellen Berlinger (Makatsch) and Martin Rascher (Blomberg) investigate the traces of the two perpetrators and follow the indications of the blind: the smell of an expensive perfume, the voices of suspects, the details heard and felt by Rosa at the crime scene.

When the alleged perpetrators contact Rosa, she does not want any police protection. Berlinger and Rascher suspect that the young woman knows more than she says – maybe even knows the perpetrators, likes them, finds them attractive … The investigators have to resort to unusual methods to prevent further deaths.

The broadcast date is not yet known.
