Heino Ferch has played several murder investigators. And in real life he was once involved in police investigations.

Actor Heino Ferch (60) spoke on the talk show “3nach9” on Friday evening (April 5) about a scary childhood experience. In a conversation with presenter Judith Rakers (48), he revealed that he discovered a corpse in the water while visiting an outdoor pool.

“It was scary – but that only came afterwards”

The crime star remembered the incident on the Radio Bremen talk show: “I was with my grandmother in Waldshut, which is in the south of Germany, in Baden-Württemberg not far from the Swiss border.” He played in the water with other children in an outdoor swimming pool on the river: “I was ten and someone came swimming past who wasn’t breathing all that much.”

It was actually a water corpse. “Then the lifeguard came and then at some point the police.” At first the whole thing seemed to have been an adventure for the boy: “We all stood there and were thrilled.” He was only ten and just thought to himself: “Oh, what’s going on now?” Only later did he realize what he had really experienced: “It was scary – but that only came afterwards.”

Heino Ferch has played several murder investigators; for seven years he has been playing the eponymous detective in the ZDF true crime series “Ingo Thiel”. The next episode “Letters from Beyond” will air on April 15th at 8:15 p.m.
