Helene Fischer is happier than ever: she has been in a relationship with Thomas Seitel for three years, and they are now expecting their first child together. However, there are no joint photos or appearances of the dream couple. Until now.
In her ZDF documentary “Helene Fischer – In the intoxication of the senses”, which was shown for the first time on TV on Saturday, October 16, 2021, the pop singer shows herself as private as never before. “I’ve never shown myself so personally,” admits Helene Fischer, 37, herself.

What follows is a one-hour music film about their new album “Rausch” and the hard work that is behind the videos and every single song. Again and again Helene is faded in, she sits on a couch and speaks surprisingly openly about the genesis of her songs. However, it only becomes really personal in the last few minutes of the documentary.
“‘Hand in Hand’ actually describes my initial feelings, how my current love came about,” said the 37-year-old about her song “Hand in Hand”. “About my inner despair, up to the knowledge that it was exactly right and that it was apparently so predetermined by fate.” She speaks of Thomas Seitel. Because even if Helene does not explicitly say his name, scenes are faded in during these seconds that show Fischer and Seitel together for the first time. You look deep into each other’s eyes, hold hands and give each other a gentle kiss. You can see the scenes in love in Fischer’s documentation, which can be found in the ZDF media library.
“To know that this person is in the room that I’m singing this song for …”
“It was a very, very personal song and I made a conscious decision to let people know how I was doing,” the 37-year-old also reveals to the audience. The emotional interview was recorded during the filming of her music video of “Hand in Hand”, the song intended for Thomas. “Knowing that this person is in the room for whom I am singing this song triggers very, very many emotions in me,” says a visibly moved Helene.
Helene Fischer and Thomas Seitel have been a couple since 2018. As the pop singer confirmed a few days ago, they are currently expecting their first child together. “We have been overjoyed about it for a long time and I’m doing fantastic. Because I can proudly say: I’m looking forward to the time that lies ahead. An overwhelming and unique feeling,” said Helene on Instagram.
