Early awareness

Vegetarian since she was 7 years old, Hélène Thouy has “Very early on realized the suffering that humans can inflict on animals”. As a teenager in the Gironde countryside, she suffered a number of mockeries about her sensitivity to animals. It was during her law studies that she became involved in activism. “I have an empathy for animals, but my commitment is above all a commitment to justice, she explains. It strikes me as deeply unfair to treat animals in this way. ” She does not like labels, antispeciesist or otherwise, and does not want to oppose causes and fights. “I am committed for animals, but also for humans”, assures this defender of women or the rights of foreigners.

Fisherwoman of abstainers

Hélène Thouy rejects the idea that her candidacy can divide the voices of environmentalists, ensuring that her objective is on the contrary to convince citizens who no longer travel. “The voters no longer have confidence, she sums up, they say to themselves: “You might as well vote for the Animalist Party to have a vote that makes sense.” ” In the 2019 Europeans, the list she led obtained 2.16% of the vote. Within the so-called parties “Mainstream”, the animalist vote would be less an electoral threat than a form “Constructive abstention”, as summarized by LRM deputy for Alpes-Maritimes Loïc Dombreval, very committed to the animal cause.

Coming soon to the countryside

Affable and smiling, the candidate has an uncompromising speech. If she were elected President of the Republic, Hélène Thouy would put an end to intensive farming, that is to say all those which do not allow animals to access the outdoors. If it promises accompanying measures so as not to leave breeders on the floor, it would only give itself five years to make this transition. In the meantime, she continues her professional activity until the end of the year, ” by [qu’elle a] a team to keep alive ”. She will put it on hiatus from the beginning of 2022 to devote herself to the campaign. On condition that it has obtained its 500 sponsorships.
