After Helge Schneider canceled a concert in the “Strandkorb Open Air” series, he will not appear on other dates either.

All appearances by Helge Schneider (65) in the “Strandkorb Open Air” series have been canceled. This is what the multi-talented team has on their Facebook page and on the Schneider homepage announced.

“Helge Schneider’s planned appearances at the Strandkorb Open Airs in Mönchengladbach, Bochum, Hartenholm, Berlin / Hoppegarten and St. Wendel have been canceled,” it says, among other things. For Hamburg there will be an alternative date on September 5th “without beach chairs” at the same venue. Until August 2022 are up to date also numerous other shows Schneider planned.

The concert in Augsburg was canceled

At one of the “Strandkorb Open Airs” in Augsburg, Schneider left the stage prematurely last week. On recordings which circulated among other things on Twitter, Schneider could be seen explaining: “I have to say, I’m pretty pissed off, I don’t feel like it anymore. I’m going to break off the beach chair concerts at this point, I’m very sorry.”

The musician and entertainer expressed “his respect for the great commitment of the organizer, which with the development of a new concept made live concerts possible in a larger setting in front of an audience”, it is now further on Facebook. For Schneider, “unfortunately the format doesn’t fit”. Part of the concept of the series of events is that guests can order food in the beach chairs, which is then brought to the square in order to avoid queues.

Tailors and organizers are jointly donating 20,000 euros

It was also announced that the organizer and Schneider will jointly donate 20,000 euros for the victims of the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. This should be a “sign to everyone else involved in this series of concerts” and the aim was to show the fans “that the financial aspect was just as little in the foreground of the decision as any criticism of the beach chair event format”.

Tickets for the canceled performances – including the canceled concert in Augsburg – can therefore be returned to where they were bought.
