Heli in continuous use – tourers fall on the descent – seriously injured!

Two serious alpine accidents occurred in Tyrol on Tuesday! In the Stubai Valley, a 52-year-old woman had a self-inflicted fall and had to be flown to the hospital with serious injuries. In the municipality of Weerberg, a 77-year-old lost his skis. He also suffered serious injuries.

At around 12.40 p.m., three women friends (54, 54 and 52 years old) went on a ski tour together to the Hohen Burgstall in the municipality of Telfes in the Stubaital. “The three are equal touring partners without a management relationship,” the police say. During the descent, the 52-year-old fell third in the group due to her own fault. The local was seriously injured and had to be taken to the hospital in Hall by the emergency helicopter. She fell in the powder snow. At around 3 p.m. the emergency helicopter had to be called out again because of a ski tourer. A 77-year-old climbed alone in Weerberg from the mountain station of the Hüttegg lift over Nonsjöchl to Gilfert. On the descent towards Lafasteralm, the local lost his skis in the powder snow at an altitude of 1,900 meters. “He was seriously injured, had to be rescued using rope and flown to the district hospital in Schwaz,” said the executive.
