Heli rushed to help – Tyrol: Three bikers seriously injured in accidents

The trip on a mountain bike or e-bike was fatal for three Tyroleans (29, 46 and 60) in Mutters Scharnitz and Umhausen on Sunday. All three sustained injuries, some of them serious. They were rescued by the ambulance helicopter.

The first accident happened around 1 p.m. In the bike park of the Muttereralm Bergbahnen, a local (29) rode a mountain bike on the single trail “The Chainless One”. “Due to a driving error, he crashed head-on into a tree in an S chicane,” the executive informed. The 29-year-old suffered serious injuries to his left shoulder. He made an emergency call and was flown to the Innsbruck clinic by the emergency doctor helicopter. Crashed on a forest road At 2:30 p.m. the second accident occurred. In the municipality of Scharnitz, a local (46) rode an e-bike in the Hochwald area on the forest road from the Isertalhütte in the direction of the Scharnitzer Alm. “There was a fall for reasons that are still unclear.” The 46-year-old suffered serious injuries on the right thighs too. He also made an emergency call and was flown to the Hall hospital by the “Martin 2” helicopter. Rollover during braking maneuvers The third accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. A local (60) rode his mountain bike from Umhausen to the Kleinhoarlachalm. On the descent on the forest path in the Larstigalm area, a car came towards the 60-year-old. “When braking, the man fell, rolled over and sustained injuries to his spine and chest.” Other bikers provided first aid. Finally, the injured man was flown to the Innsbruck clinic by the “Martin 2” helicopter.
