A German couple had to be taken off the mountain by helicopter in Egg (Vorarlberg) on Friday. The two were looking for a lost cell phone – in bad weather.
A 22-year-old German and his girlfriend of the same age were on a circular hiking trail on Tristenkopf in the municipality of Egg in the Bregenzerwald on Thursday. The next day the two decided to climb the mountain again because the man had apparently lost his cell phone during the hike the day before. He was able to locate the device in the summit area. As we searched for the cell phone, the weather got worse and worse. Fog set in and it was snowing. Finally, the couple no longer dared to descend from the summit and called the emergency services. The “Libelle” helicopter rescued the two frightened people and brought them safely back to the valley. It is not known whether the two found the cell phone beforehand.
