Helicopter operation – woman (28) landed in a ditch in Styria

Serious accident in Grafendorf near Hartberg: A 28-year-old woman came off the road on Tuesday evening and landed in a ditch. She injured herself so badly that she had to be transported away by a rescue helicopter. It is still unclear why the accident occurred.

The 28-year-old was on her way from Grafendorf to Lafnitzt around nine o’clock in the evening when the accident occurred. For unclear reasons, she left the road on Wechsel Street to the right and was thrown into the ditch along with her car. Rescue helicopter Christophorus 17 was deployed. Oncoming drivers freed her from the car, looked after her and called the emergency services. A rescue helicopter also had to be deployed. The 28-year-old was flown to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified degree. The car, which was a total loss, was recovered by a towing company. 70 people from the Grafendorf and Lafnitz volunteer fire departments were on duty – they kept the federal highway closed for two hours.
