Helicopter required – Two injured in accidents on Tyrolean construction sites

There were two serious accidents on Monday on Tyrol’s construction sites. In St. Leonhard im Pitztal, a local (43) was injured on the upper body during formwork work. In Reith near Kitzbühel, on the other hand, a Croatian (44) was seriously injured in the head by an excavator shovel. In both cases the helicopter was required.

The first accident happened at 3:30 p.m. A 43-year-old was carrying out formwork work on a construction site in St. Leonhard in Pitztal. “After loosening the anchoring of two formwork elements, they tilted in the direction of the man,” the police said. The worker was pressed against a post of the next formwork by the formwork elements and injured. Two colleagues freed the 43-year-old and he was able to leave the site on his own. After first aid at the scene of the accident, the worker with upper body injuries was taken to the hospital in Zams with the “Martin 2” emergency helicopter second accident happened just before 5 p.m. On a construction site in Reith near Kitzbühel, a 23-year-old was digging with an excavator. “As the worker tilted the shovel to dump the spoil, a 44-year-old Croatian worker was about to walk under it,” officials said. The man was hit in the head by the excavator shovel and suffered serious head injuries. After the emergency medical first aid on site, the worker was taken to the hospital in St. Johann by the emergency doctor helicopter “C4”. After completion of the investigations, a report will be submitted to the public prosecutor’s office in Innsbruck.
