Hellboy: Web of Wyrd was one of the nice surprises announced to the Game Awards 2022. The action game starring the cult character of Dark Horse Comics will return in an original story co-written by the creator of the comics, Mike Mignola, which will take us to the dark dimension of wyrd to investigate the disappearance of a member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
The first trailer got us into the swing of things, with a seductive comic book aesthetic, now it’s time for a trailer of gameplay short, but cheerful. The investigation will often give way to the fight against the forces of evil, often in third person view, but sometimes with more original angles highlighting our punches and gunshots.
Built in 1962 by the occultist Pascual Deneveux, the Butterfly House is much more than a residence: it is a portal. Its ungodly angles and its non-Euclidean geometry have only one evil vocation: to open a passage towards a dimension as fascinating as it is appalling called the Wyrd.
Twenty years after its creation, a BPRD agent sent on a reconnaissance mission in the house mysteriously disappears. It’s up to you, Hellboy, and your team of Bureau agents to track down your colleague and uncover the secrets of the Butterfly House.
During your investigation, you will explore strange and wondrous planes of existence harboring fearsome monsters, forgotten deities, unimaginable treasures and powerful secrets. But beware: an age-old evil lurks in the furthest corners of the Wyrd…an evil that yearns to escape.
Developed by Upstream Arcade, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd features an all-new storyline co-written with Dark Horse Comics and comic book creator Mike Mignola. Battle monsters in this one-of-a-kind Hellboy action-adventure roguelike. As in the comics, Hellboy will live adventures as different as they are original, and if these stories are enough on their own, they are all linked by a red thread to the mysterious heritage of the Butterfly House.
The title ofUpstream Arcade (west of dead) will be available soon on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
