One hundred and fifty years after this handcrafted grandfather clock found its way to my family on horse-drawn carriages from some craft shop, I sit here and write about the fact that a robot killed a human being. The soulless machine simply mistook a technician for fresh vegetables and crushed him. A tragic accident. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock… Fuck.

Sometimes technical developments can scare you. It all happens so quickly! I don’t know how you see it, but I still can’t get used to the fact that on the street, on the train, on the playground – everywhere, at all times, everyone is collectively staring at their smartphones. Of course I’m one of them myself.

Stop! I’m not a vegetable! But of course, with this point of view, I am one of the dying dinosaurs. Because while I’m still slightly wistfully remembering the times without smartphones, AI is shuffling with its non-existent feet to turn our lives upside down again. Or can AI even help us regain sight of what’s important? Of course she can.

When the first smartwatches came onto the market, there was constant talk that the days of the smartphone were now numbered. We all know that from today’s perspective that was nonsense. This week the availability of Humane Ai Pin was announced. And again there is talk of a possible end to the smartphone era.

I really like the approach. The Humane Ai Pin is a type of brooch that you magnetically attach to your clothing. The small box is equipped with a camera and a green laser. And it has no display!

So you can’t watch movies or surf the internet. Instead, rudimentary information is projected onto your palm using the laser. But mainly you should talk to the “brooch” – and the AI ​​should answer. Maybe it’s the prominent developers with Apple backgrounds, maybe it’s the product design, or something completely different, but I think the project could be successful. And free ourselves from the screen on the go. Tick. Tack. Hip. Hip. Hooray!

Anyone who has children knows the Toniebox. The box plays content such as music or audio books when small figures are placed on it.
