Helmut Lotti will be a guest at the “Schlagerbooom” on October 23rd. In the interview he talks about his failed marriages and his new love.
Helmut Lotti (52) has been on stage for more than 30 years. After the long lockdown, he is now singing again in front of a large audience: In Florian Silbereisen’s “Schlagerbooom” on October 23 (8:15 pm, Das Erste). There he wants to present his current album “Italian Songbook”, which has been on the market since September 3rd. He will also celebrate his 52nd birthday on Friday (October 22nd). In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the singer talks about his autism, his failed marriages and explains how intensively he does sports. When asked whether he wants to get married again, the 52-year-old has a clear answer.
On October 23, you will perform at Florian Silbereisen’s “Schlagerbooom”. How much are you looking forward to the stage?
Helmut Lotti: Very! The stage is my playground and I would like to bring my “Italian Songbook” closer to audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It is also a show with a lot of ambience!
Are such shows a particular challenge for you as an autistic person?
Lotti: Not at all. As I said, the stage is my playground and everything works pretty well there!
You have a problem with small talk. On which topics are you staying on the ball?
Lotti: I’m interested in sport, history too, as well as current topics such as the environment, nature, global warming and psychological and philosophical topics. And of course music.
In an interview you stated that you have often made the wrong decisions in your private life. Is there anything you regret? What did you learn from your failed marriages?
Lotti: Every disadvantage has its advantages, so no, I have no regrets. I’ve learned from my marriages that I should be nicer and more honest with myself.
You are very happy with Marieke van Hooff. What makes your relationship with her so special?
Lotti: She has a sense of humor, intelligence, tolerance and understanding and uses these qualities to protect my heart. And I’ll try the same with her.
Are you planning to get married again?
Lotti: No.
Three years ago you told us in an interview that you do intensive sport in order to maintain your physical and mental fitness. Is that still the case today?
Lotti: Yes, I have a training plan from a personal coach: cycling, running, rowing, power training and healthy, protein-rich food!
You describe yourself as a “failed cyclist” in your Instagram bio. Why?
Lotti: Because that’s me. I wanted to be a racing cyclist, but I wasn’t strong and ruthless enough.
They like to spend money on beautiful clothes. What do you value in this?
Lotti: Stage clothing should be chic and a bit exclusive. Cufflinks and patent leather shoes are very suitable for a guy like me.
How much are you looking forward to your tour, which will start soon and which will also take you to Germany?
Lotti: I’m particularly looking forward to my “Italian Songbook” concerts and have already played a few gigs of around an hour and a half with my rhythm section and brass section, which is great. But I want to play with The Golden Symphonic Orchestra again soon. From November 20th the time will finally come! Then I play an hour twice. The first hour I play the new album and the second hour my hits.
Celebrate your 52nd birthday one day before your live show with Florian Silbereisen, congratulations. What do you wish for in the new year of your life?
Lotti: A successful tour, good health and that my friends and family are still doing well.
