Actor Helmut Zierl confessed to having consumed numerous drugs as a teenager.
Actor Helmut Zierl (65, "honey in the head") spoke openly about his previous drug use. He took LSD and speed, "smoking hashish was normal," said the 65-year-old in an interview with the magazine "Bunte".
His drug phase began after he was kicked out of school and home as a teenager. He was homeless for three months, hitchhiked, slept under bridges and in parks, and also used hard drugs.
At that time he also lived in Amsterdam for a few weeks. In the Netherlands drug use was not prosecuted as strictly as in Germany. Zierl in an interview: "Death was my constant companion. I also wanted to throw my life away without even having really started to live".
The drug experience brought life experience
The reason for the late confession is Zierl's current book "Follow the Sun", in which the 65-year-old looks back at the drug summer. He not only sees time negatively, it would have brought him a lot of life experience. After the rebellious youth, Zierl became a successful theater and film actor. In 1972 he began his acting training, from there he joined the ensemble of the Hamburg Thalia Theater.
Today Helmut Zierl (65) lives again in his home village Lütjensee near Hamburg, from which he just wanted to leave when he was 16: "Because I found it so narrow and narrow". At the age of 33 he was drawn back home. Zierl has two sons with the actress Christine Zierl (58 "Celebrity Big Brother") alias Dolly Dollar. He has been with Sabrina Böcker for eight years.
