In the Donaustadt district of Vienna, a woman’s corpse was found in the morning on Saturday morning. The young woman – she should be around 18 years old – was leaning against a tree on a strip of green next to Viktor-Kaplan-Straße. According to the police, a homicide cannot be ruled out.
At around 7 a.m., witnesses discovered the motionless woman on the grass verge, the approximately 18-year-old leaning against a tree. “You went and saw that she was not conscious and immediately started resuscitation measures and notified the police and rescue,” said press spokesman Markus Dittrich. The emergency doctor could then only determine the death of the young woman.
The woman’s body had some bruises. Therefore, homicide cannot be ruled out. The identity of the woman is still unknown. “She had no identity documents with her, nor anything else that would point to her identity,” said Dittrich.
The Vienna State Criminal Police Office has started the investigation. An autopsy is carried out. If it turns out that the woman has fallen victim to an act of violence, it would be the twelfth woman murder this year.
Knife attack in downtown Vienna
A 21-year-old in downtown Vienna was the victim of a bloody knife attack on Saturday night. The young man had suffered several stab wounds and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The search for the perpetrator is ongoing.
