Henriette Reker (63) is currently enjoying her summer vacation on Lake Constance. In the "Bunte" interview on site, the mayor of Cologne spoke about her life after the attack in 2015 when she seriously injured a right-wing extremist with a knife. She was very lucky with this attack on her life, says the non-party lawyer. "After that, I was able to approach people with an open mind again very quickly," continues Reker.
If she were to be in a wheelchair today, it would certainly be different in her opinion. For half a year they still had dreams of coping, but that was normal. Reker, who is standing for re-election this year, feels no concern for the future. It is unlikely to be stabbed twice: "I'm not afraid of another attack."
Separated on vacation
By the way, Reker spends her vacation without her husband Perry Somers (61). The Australian golf professional works in the summer: "We'll be on vacation together after Christmas." In her ten-day holiday on Lake Constance, she mainly goes cycling, swimming and taking care of herself: "That is good for me. My performance is restored."
