Henry Cavill as Edward in Twilight? “That would have been cool!” loose the actor of The Witcher

Henry Cavill as vampire Edward Cullen in ‘Twilight’? Stephenie Meyer, the author of the saga, had worn her first choice on him. The actor has just spoken on the subject …

For Edward and Bella from the Twilight saga, author Stephenie Meyer wanted Emily Browning and Henry Cavill, no one else. The British comedian had just played in Stardust, the mystery of the star but was judged by the studio as too old for the role.

In 2008, Cavill was 25 to play a 17-year-old character. So far nothing shocking, but projecting himself on a saga ending in 2011, he would have shot the final episode at 29 years old, which could have started to show on the screen.

The author was visibly frustrated by the studio’s decision: “The most disappointing thing for me is to lose my perfect Edward. Henry Cavill is now 24 years old. Let’s have a moment of silence to mourn…” she wrote on her blog.

So why bring up this known fact again? Quite simply because the information only recently came to the ears of the actor of The Witcher, while he is on the promotional tour of Enola Holmes 2.

“I didn’t know about the movie. I didn’t know they wanted to cast me and the internet wasn’t such a powerful tool at the time, so I only found out about it after the fact. I thought to myself, ” Oh ok, that would have been cool” he said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Adding: “In Hollywood – or in the acting industry – everyone is trying to get a part and not necessarily getting it. And so having the opportunity to be in the limelight by missing out on the big roles is actually a good thing as opposed to a bad thing”. Make a good heart against bad luck, especially if it can give other great career opportunities.
