Henry Cavill: before Superman, he almost played another DC superhero!

Did you know that British actor Henry Cavill, the big-screen embodiment of Superman since 2013, had a tryout to play another DC superhero? We’ll let you know which one!

Since 2013, he has been the cinematic incarnation of Superman, a character that brought him international fame. But did you know that British actor Henry Cavill, before donning the famous cape, had passed trials to play another DC superhero? Not sure he lost on the change…

In 2009, Henry Cavill was indeed one of the actors approached to play Green Lantern on the big screen. According The Hollywood Reporter websitethe comedian had passed trials for the character along with Michael Fassbender, Jared Leto, Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds.

Henry Cavill was not a finalist for the role. It was indeed Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds who were the favorites in the very last straight line, the role finally going to the last named.

Green Lantern, released in theaters in 2011, was freshly received, both by critics and by the public. Not sure, then, that Cavill regrets not being cast, especially considering he landed the Clark Kent/Superman role shortly thereafter. Ryan Reynolds, for his part, is not proud of this hated Green Lantern, but can be satisfied to have then won a huge success with the Deadpool films.
