ZDF shoots docu-drama about Lady Di

Princess Diana is currently the protagonist of several new cinema and series productions. The ZDF is now following with a docu-drama.
“The Crown”, “Spencer” and now “Diana – The Night She Became a Legend”: Princess Diana (1961-1997) is currently the focus of several new film and series productions. On Tuesday (November 9th), ZDF announced its own docu-drama, which should flicker across the screens in 2022.
Mareile Blendl plays Lady Di
The film, in which Mareile Blendl (45) plays the leading role, illuminates the last hours in the life of the mother of Prince William (39) and Prince Harry (37) in 1997. The plot begins with the arrival of Diana and Dodi al -Fayed (Patrick Pinheiro, 44) in Paris and describes the last hours of the couple and their companions. What circumstances and short-term plan changes led to the tragic chain of events that finally came to an abrupt end with the accident in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel? Could Diana’s death have been prevented?
The production with the working title “Diana – the night in which she became a legend” not only illuminates the events, but also aims to provide access to the protagonists of this fateful night. The two authors Annika Blendl (40) and Leonie Stade (33), who also act as directors, worked with ZDF editor and co-author Ulrike Grunewald (63) to implement the 800-page investigation report in game scenes.

They are combined with archive material and interviews with contemporary witnesses. In the conversations, which have already been recorded in London and Paris, Alastair Campbell (64), former press spokesman for British Prime Minister Tony Blair (68), and Paul Burrell (63), Diana’s former butler and close confidante, have their say . In addition, the journalist Richard Kay chats up close and personal. He had spoken to Diana on the last night.
The shooting will probably take place in Munich until mid-November. An exact broadcast date of the docu-drama has not yet been determined. A date is planned for 2022 – the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana.
