“Her mother died pregnant in Auschwitz”: Emmanuelle Seigner defends her husband Roman Polanski in the face of feminist remarks

Emmanuelle Seigner was the guest of the Portrait of the week of seven to eight this Sunday, October 16 on TF1. Questioned by Audrey-Crespo Mara, the older sister of Mathilde Seigner returned to the numerous accusations of sexual assault which concern her husband and director Roman Polansky to whom she has been married for 33 years.

The actress first remembers the great seducer that her husband was when they met. “When I met my husband, all the women wanted to sleep with him. It was crazy. It was crazy. He was 52 but he looked like he was 30. He was a great director so he was very attractive, and I think he didn’t need to rape anyone”she says.

This kind of feminist activists, I don’t know if we need them!

On Friday February 28, 2020, the Cesar ceremony takes place. Roman Polanski is named twelve times for his movie I accuse released in 2019. He then received the Cesar for Best Director. Outside, many feminist activists demonstrate against the director whom they accuse of sexual assault. “The police were using gas and there were some women who said, ‘It’s not us who should be gassed, it’s Polanskirelates Emmanuelle Seigner who had not attended the ceremony. I still remember that Roman’s mother died in Auschwitz in the gas chamber and she was pregnant as well. So, this kind of feminist activists, I don’t know if we need them!

We are witnessing a lot of abuse of lies that discredit these victims

Despite all these accusations that attack her husband, Emmanuelle Seigner supports the #MeToo movement: “There are some very good things in #MeToo, which is to say that it is very good that speech is freed. Frankly, if we have experienced rape, incest or terrible things, it is very very important that women be able to speak and be heard. I’m all for it,” she defends before regretting: “Nevertheless, we are witnessing a lot of excesses, a lot of abuse of lies which discredit these victims and which do them a disservice. So that’s what I find very unfortunate in fact”.

Roman Polanski remains presumed innocent of the charges against him until the final judgment of these cases.
