Her sick little girl, she consults a dozen doctors who do not listen to her, before a devastating test

Theano suffered, suffered too much. In August 2022, the 3-year-old girl started experiencing strange symptoms. Obviously worried, his mother took him to see several doctors in the Scottish town of Hamilton, not far from Glasgow. Not everyone worried about the little girl and explained to her mother that she only suffered from common childhood infections, such as an ear infection. Since her little girl had just started kindergarten and had spent time with many toddlers, Ilona Zahorszki initially trusted the doctors. But as Theano continued to fall ill every two weeks, his parents began to wonder.

“In November and December, I knew Theano was not well, but nobody listened to me. I went to the general practitioner, to the hospital, to clinics… I saw more than 10 doctors, assures this mother, caregiver. She had three urinary tract infections, an ear infection, a rash that looked like red tampon marks on her legs, a chest infection, stomach pain and a sore leg.” At some point, Theano’s personality also began to change, which further worried his parents. “Every time I went to see a doctor, I asked for blood tests. I knew something was wrong because his whole personality had changed, remembers his mother. Before being ill, she was a very active child. She had many friends. She had also started having temper tantrums.”

The little girl is seriously ill

After weeks of medical wandering, Theano’s parents cracked up in front of the hell experienced by their little girl. On New Year’s Eve, they therefore waited several hours in the hospital for the doctors to perform a blood test on the 3-year-old girl. After the tests, they finally announced terrible news to the parents: Theano suffers from leukemia. “A doctor told me she would have only had a month or two to live if I hadn’t come to complain,” explains the mother. Theano started chemotherapy on January 5 and was transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where she is receiving the best care. According to doctors, the little girl has a good chance of survival.
