Hérault: a radiologist targeted by insults and death threats

Louis of Raguenel

A radiologist based in a town in Hérault was the victim of insults and death threats in his office on May 25, according to information from Europe 1. This attack follows an ultrasound performed on a minor aged 16. year. It was one of his relatives who came to attack the doctor in his office.

The scene took place on May 25 in the medical office of a radiologist in the Hérault Valley, near Montpellier. A 16-year-old woman presents alone for an emergency ultrasound for suspected appendicitis. The doctor then asks her to take off her clothes, which she initially refuses. Letting herself be convinced by the need to have direct contact with the skin, the young woman agreed to remove part of the clothing from her upper body.

No physical violence committed during the altercation

A few minutes later, once the young girl has left, a man enters the doctor’s office and violently calls out to the doctor: “You bastard, big pervert, you undressed the woman (…) I’m going to kill you! Open your stomach and take out your guts, cut your throat, cut off your head and hang it in the fence!”

According to a source close to the investigation, the girl’s relative also mimics death threats against the practitioner. However, no physical violence was committed during the altercation. Pending the arrest of the suspect, surveillance of the doctor’s office is set up by the prefect of Hérault, Hugues Moutouh. It closely follows the phenomena of radicalization and separatism in the department.

Facts likely to constitute an offense of separatism

The alleged perpetrator of the assault was arrested a few days later, on May 31. This is one of the girl’s brothers. The person concerned will appear before the Montpellier Criminal Court at the beginning of next July. Justice will have to determine whether the facts are likely to constitute the new offense of separatism established by the law of August 24, 2021.
