CDU politician Herbert Reul went into quarantine at home after a corona rapid test turned out positive.

NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (68, CDU) has tested positive for the corona virus, as several media report unanimously. A spokeswoman for the ministry is quoted as saying that the politician should be doing "well under the circumstances." So far, the infection has only been detected with a rapid test, the result of a PCR test is still pending. Reul is now in quarantine at home for ten days.

If the result is confirmed, Reul would be the first minister in the North Rhine-Westphalian state government to be infected. Two NRW ministers and one NRW minister had already gone into quarantine at home in the past few months because they had contact with corona infected people: Construction Minister Ina Scharrenbach (44, CDU), Justice Minister Peter Biesenbach (73, CDU) and Transport Minister Hendrick Wüst (45, CDU).
