Guy Ritchie (53) is said to be responsible for the live-action remake of the Disney animated classic “Hercules”. This is reported by the US industry magazine “Deadline”. The director will be supported as producers Joe (50) and Anthony Russo (52), who are best known as directors of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”. Your production company AGBO is currently hiring writers after Dave Callaham (44) wrote a first draft of the live-action adaptation.

Who becomes “Hercules”?

It had already been announced that “Hercules” would be given a real film adaptation. Among others “The Hollywood Reporter” reported on the project in April 2020. However, it is not yet clear who will embody the title hero.

Ritchie brought the 1992 Disney film back to the big screen with “Aladdin” in 2019, including Will Smith (53) as Genie. Ritchie also wrote the screenplay. The film grossed around $1.05 billion worldwide.

Disney already has other live-action adaptations in the pipeline, including “The Little Mermaid” (announced for May 2023) and “Pinocchio.” The latter will premiere on September 8, 2022 not in the cinema, but on the Disney+ streaming service.
