Here are 10 foods that promote acid reflux

Heartburn can poison life. They are the consequence of gastroesophageal reflux. In order to limit these inconveniences, you must take care to adapt your diet. Here is the list of products to put aside to reduce these acid refluxes.

Mold cheeses

Camembert, goat cheese, Roquefort… All cheeses with molds should be avoided. As they take longer to be digested, they promote acid reflux.

Spices

Spicy foods contain a substance that irritates the lining of the esophagus. We will therefore put aside curry dishes and sauces that are too mustard.

Fizzy drinks

Sodas but also quite simply sparkling water can attack the walls of the esophagus and thus lead to gastroesophageal reflux. Flat water is therefore to be preferred in all circumstances.

Pickles

Vinegar and pickles are particularly acidic. We will put them aside in case of gastric reflux until we get better.

Chocolate

The post-Christmas period is often marked by an exceptional consumption of chocolates. It is therefore regularly during this period that acid reflux is felt. Chocolate contains methylxanthines which relax muscles in the airways but increase the exposure time of stomach acid in the esophagus.

The alcohol

The sphincter works like a valve at the entrance to the stomach. It opens to let the food pass, then closes to prevent it from rising. Alcohol is known to interfere with its functioning and thus promote acid reflux. White wine seems to have more harmful effects, but beer or vodka are just as inadvisable.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes can be particularly acidic and irritate the mucous membranes of the digestive system. The younger it is, the more harmful it will be. We prefer ripe tomatoes. Even better: we immerse them in boiling water for a few seconds and then peel the skin.

Lemon juice

Anything that is acidic causes an upset stomach. Lemon juice, or any other citrus fruit, should therefore be banned on pain of suffering from multiple burns. It will undoubtedly do good for the throat but not for the stomach.

Coffee

Coffee lovers will need to change their habits, at least in order to reduce the symptoms. Indeed, the caffeine contained in coffee has the effect of relaxing the sphincter, thus promoting acid reflux.

The cold cuts

Cold cuts contain a lot of saturated fat. The latter have the effect of slowing gastric emptying and reducing the effectiveness of the lower esophageal sphincter. For this reason, avoid overdoing it in the event of acid reflux.
