Here are 6 foods that turn toxic when reheated

The art of recycling is practiced in the kitchen. While many cooked foods can be transformed into delicious dishes, some should not be reheated at the risk of being potentially toxic. Here is the list of foods not to be baked twice.

The chicken

Sunday roast chicken and its aromas that whet the appetite remains a classic of French cuisine. Very often the leftovers are cooked the following days. If cold chicken goes well with homemade mayonnaise, avoid reheating it in the microwave. Indeed, if bacteria develop there, the heat of the device will not eliminate them.

Spinach

Like lettuce, spinach contains nitrates, even more so if it was grown using fertilizers. This substance does not represent a danger for the organism. But once cooked, reheating them will have the effect of transforming nitrates into nitrites which are potentially harmful to humans, especially in the development of cancer.

The mushrooms

Mushrooms are often associated with sauces. They bring a little taste of autumn to a dish. But be careful, it is recommended not to reheat them once they have already been cooked. According to experts, this process greatly complicates digestion and causes bloating.

Potatoes

The practice is very common: reheat potatoes a few days after cooking. Nutritionists believe that this is a mistake: indeed, the tuber loses all its nutrients when it is reheated. In addition, a reheated potato can become difficult to digest or even toxic. To recycle them, a potato salad with red onions and ham will do.

Eggs

No need to reheat a hard-boiled egg. Better to make mimosa eggs out of them. Indeed, when you reheat an egg, its many proteins change shape and become more difficult to digest.

The lettuce

Like spinach, lettuce should not be recooked or reheated after cooking. It is the presence of nitrates which poses a problem and which risks causing intoxication. On the other hand, it is quite possible to eat it cooked. Moreover, some chefs offer delicious lettuce soups.
