A new chapter will open, in this decidedly very long epic of the coronavirus. Thursday January 14, 2021, a new press conference will be held, again hosted by the Prime Minister, Jean Castex. And on D-2 before the government's announcements on this endless health crisis, several scenarios emerge, with more or less chance of being established. To prepare psychologically for our future rules of life, a brief overview of the options in the State's pipes.
# 1 A curfew at 6 p.m. extended throughout the territory
According to RTL, the government welcomes the 6 p.m. curfew implemented in some departments. Right now, one in four departments is on the list for this advanced curfew. This Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Var and Drôme are added to the 23 other departments already listed. So why not extend it to the rest of France? Knowing that the indicators of proliferation of the virus remain worrying: Monday, January 11, there were 24,812 hospitalized patients, against 24,526 on Sunday, January 10. Not to mention the seven new cases linked to the British variant of the coronavirus discovered in Marseille. On Europe 1, Olivier Véran, Minister of Health, insisted and affirmed "do everything possible to prevent the spread of this variant". A general curfew could be the solution chosen.
# 2 A national curfew at 6 p.m., accompanied by confinement on weekends
Another possible scenario, nationally extend the curfew to 6 p.m. and set up containment on weekends. A very restrictive option, but not as much as confinements 1 and 2 that France has known in the past.
# 3 A total reconfinement
The least likely scenario, based on the latest government statements. Monday January 11, 2021, Jean Castex had ruled out this option in front of Parliament: "The current figures for the epidemic lead us to believe that the curfew is sufficient", he had indicated.
All these options must be discussed on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, with the Defense Council. What is certain is that the government will not alleviate the measures currently in place, and while at the same time, certain European countries are starting again towards a re-containment, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria , the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Ireland.
