New families will be able to benefit from the 2024 back-to-school allowance. The ceilings will in fact be increased to calculate the aid.
What increase can parents expect in the 2024 back-to-school allowance? At the start of the year, the increases mainly concerned prices: electricity, gas, tobacco, etc. But the CAF clarified its payment schedule and announced an experiment in paying its aid at source from the end of the year, before an application in 2025.
As for the one dedicated to schoolchildren, this is good news: the ceilings will be increased compared to 2023. The ARS (back-to-school allowance) is paid to families based on their resources. Children aged between 6 and 18 must be either in school, in apprenticeship, or cared for in a specialized reception establishment. The website of public service estimates that nearly three million households benefit from it in the country. Even more will be affected next year.

The new ceilings for the re-entry allowance
The ARS ceilings will be increased by approximately 5%:
- 27,141 euros with a dependent child
- 33,404 euros with two dependent children
- 39,667 euros with three dependent children
- 45,930 euros with four dependent children
These amounts correspond to categorical net annual revenues : the sum of its income (salaries, land or movable income, etc.) less its real or fixed charges as well as its tax allowances. Good to know: if you exceed the ceilings a little, you can obtain a differential allowance, calculated according to your income.
If your children are between 6 and 15 years old on December 31 following the start of the school year, you do not need to take any action, unless your child in CP is not yet 6 years old. If you have teenagers aged 16 to 18, you must declare it on the CAF website.
Scheduled for August 2024, the back-to-school allowance allows you to purchase school supplies and clothing for the return to school in September. This year, it will take place on Monday September 2.
