here are the regions that have most often won the crown

In the history of the Miss France competition created in 1920, certain regions have won the crown more times than others.

Who will succeed Indira Ampiot? Contest fans miss France, broadcast this Saturday, December 16 from 9:05 p.m. on TF1, will find out very soon. The centenary competition, which will pay tribute to its former president Geneviève de Fontenay, will see around thirty young women representing their region parade. As indicated by our colleagues from The Dispatchsince the creation of the competition in 1920, the labels under which the candidates paraded have sometimes moved : if the first Miss, Agnès Souret, represented Aquitaine, other Misses represented Gascony, Garonne, Saint-Tropez, the Côte d’Argent or the Côte d’Émeraude. Still others only represented their citylike Paris, Lyon, Marseille or Saint-Étienne.

Today, the candidates always wear the name of the 22 old regions on their scarves which date from before the 2015 reform, with the exception of Miss Midi-Pyrénées, Miss Languedoc and Miss Roussillon. And when it comes to winning the crown, some regions were luckier than others. If we look at the rankings according to the delegations since 1920, ahead of all the others, it is the Île-de-France region which wins and by far: including those who won with the Miss Paris sash, there are no less than 17 winners (the last being Diane Leyre, Miss France 2022). Next come Normandy and the Rhône-Alpes region, with seven winners to their credit (including Sylvie Tellier for the second). Guadeloupe, where Indira Ampiot comes from, has four victories.

Some regions have never won

Since the creation of the competition, some regions have always returned empty-handed, without any victory: Auvergne, Champagne-Ardenne, Limousin, Martinique, Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. Can the edition of this Saturday, December 16 change the situation, and offer a chance to one of these regions to bring home the crown at her house for the first time? Answer this evening.
