here are the resource ceilings to benefit from this assistance

The assistance put in place by the government to help households heat themselves called “heating boost” has been renewed. How can you benefit from it and what resource limits are taken into account in its application? We tell you everything!

With winter in full swing and French households having to face an increase in energy costs from February 1, 2024, the government has decided to renew its financial aid operation called “heating boost“. A bonus which allows households to replace their heating system with a new one that is more efficient and less energy-consuming. If in 2023 the State has put in place energy aid for the most “vulnerable», this heating bonus is allocated to all households without any means conditions.

However, we should not expect that all households will have the same assistance provided by the government. Indeed, this bonus, even if it is paid to everyone, is calculated according to the resources of each household. It must therefore be understood that the most modest households will be able to benefit from a higher bonus than households that are more financially comfortable. But this is not the only particularity of the calculation of this bonus since it also depends on the equipment to be replaced.

The government has therefore put in place ceilings to limit the amount of the premium based on income. Resources which are calculated for year N-2 of the current year, that is to say that requests made in 2024 depend on income from 2022. A ceiling which is equivalent to the following resources for the year 2024:

For households below these ceilings, the amount of the premium which depends on the nature of the work for the replacement of a coal or oil or gas boiler, other than condensing, is equivalent to:

  • 4000 euros minimum for an efficient biomass boiler, an air/water heat pump and a hybrid heat pump.
  • 5000 euros minimum for a water/water heat pump (geothermal heat pump) and a combined solar system.
  • 700 euros minimum for connection to a heating network powered mainly by renewable or recovery energies (ENR&R).
  • 800 euros minimum for a high-performance wood heating appliance to replace independent coal heating equipment.

Amounts that differ for households above these ceilings:
