After a year affected by inflation, the French really need to think about vacations! It’s a little early, some are in the middle of planning a ski vacation (we give you the 20 resorts with the best value for money) but the first travel trends for 2024 have been released. After the original destinations or the best “dupes” of dream stays, Booking.com reveals the 10 destinations that will be the most popular.
In a study carried out on more than 27,730 travelers from 33 different countries and territories, the booking site gave the 7 trends for next year. More and more people will first seek to invent an alter ego when leaving home: buy a more luxurious car than usual, reinvent themselves, realize their fantasies… Many will also seek freshness (rising temperatures oblige), especially with a destination close to water.

Where to go on a trip in 2024?
The third trend concerns the need to let go, with more flexible trips, surprises, spontaneous stops… Then some choose their destination based on gastronomy, to eat local and authentic. Then come those who prioritize rest, sleep and who want to recharge their batteries or find themselves. Others are looking for less expensive luxury. And finally, responsible tourism is important, with an emphasis on more sustainable practices.
Which destinations correspond to these 2024 trends? Booking.com quote first Beppu in Japan, located on the volcanic island of Kyushu, with natural heat sources and a local specialty of steam. We then find in this classification the city of Albania Vlorë, between historic town and beautiful beaches on the Adriatic. Then in third position comes Merida Mexico. In the heart of the Yucatan peninsula, the Mayan city is a stone’s throw from one of the new wonders of the world: Chichén Itzá.
