A rise that will last six months only after a significant increase is expected in the last January. As this new augmentation begins to take effect, it is time to raise the price of literary tobacco by a decade. In 2014, tobacco prices in France were significantly lower than yesterday. The average price of a pack of 20 cigarettes was around 7 euros​ against almost 13€ on average today.

This price reflects a period before the significant increases in tobacco taxes that have followed, within the framework of the French government’s efforts to reduce French tobacco consumption.

Tobacco prices will increase in January 2024

Within the framework of a decree published in the Official Journal on December 12, 2023, tobacco prices were increased again in January. A worthy increase which has caused a wave of indignation, the price of some packages has already passed the €12 bar and some are dangerously approaching €13 now.

New rise in tobacco prices until June 1, 2024

Following the arrest of 30 April 2024, which will result in the homologation of the retail sales price of tobacco products manufactured in France, The price of tobacco will increase again this Saturday, June 1, 2024. It should be noted that while this new increase does not arise from a government decision, tobacco taxation for 2024 has already been fixed and implemented.

This decision does not constitute a negative point for the government, which simply aims to make a pack of five cigarettes worth €13 in 2026.

Increase in tobacco prices: zoom in on the brands affected by the rise

The majority of major brands selling cigarettes are therefore increasing their prices. Parmi elles, the teacher Dunhill who decided to recover a few centimes : the price of a pack of 20 cigarettes ranges from 12.50€ to 12.70€.

It should be noted that these are smokers who roll tobacco fans and who this time have been most affected by this price increase. In effect, the 30 g packs from Pall Mall are worth 16.60 to 16.70 euros, the packs from Lucky Strike are worth 16.70 to 16.80 euros and finally those from the Pueblo brand are worth 16 ,90 at 17 euros. We note that cigarette and blunt prices will also increase by June 1, 2024.
