In the small world of SSDa new actor is entering, but nothing revolutionary for the moment.

Alongside the semiconductor giants (Intel, Samsung), the big players in the storage world (Seagate, Western Digital), several other big names have interfered in the SSD world (Gigabyte, MSI, etc.), but ASUS was still lacking On call. “Missing”…

Phison E18 controller and 176-layer NAND?

ASUS will indeed join the party very soon with the launch of the Strix SSD, a model that it logically intends for gamers since it is integrated into the Republic of Gamers (ROG) range.

For the time being, only one image is available and it therefore does not allow us to draw very many conclusions. Called SQ7, it is an NVMe M.2 PCIe 4.0 model in the classic “2280” format.

There is currently only a 1 TB version and, according to our colleagues from TechPowerUpit is likely to be designed around the Phison E18 controller with 176-layer Micron memory.

In fact, there is every chance that ASUS is looking to achieve the best performance for a PCIe 4.0 SSD from the outset. The launch could be done during the event Boundless from ASUS on May 17.
